How to Build an Intentional Closet on a Budget

If you’re tired of wasting money on cheap fashion, then you’re ready to build an intentional closet! An intentional closet is a wardrobe that is well thought out, a closet that is full of high quality and versatile pieces that will last a long time! But sometimes building an intentional closet can be pricey! So here’s how to build an intentional closet on a budget so you don’t break the bank!

Sign Up for Newsletters

A lot of online companies will offer you a 10-15% off code if you sign up for their newsletters. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it can cover the shipping cost. If it’s a really expensive item, it can end up being a pretty good savings.

Wait for Sales

Almost all companies have a sale now and then. If you’re on their newsletter list or if you follow them on social media, you’ll be aware of when they happen! But, do your homework beforehand and make sure you have a wish list so you don’t go into a sale buying things you don’t need. Don’t be blinded by the sale! Stick to your list.

Become an Affiliate

A lot of companies now are offering their devoted customers a chance to be an affiliate. Basically, if you sign up to be an affiliate for them, you share your personal shopping link with friends and family and you can make purchases from it yourself. Over time, you accumulate points that you can redeem towards purchases. It’s a great way to get a discount or items for free!

Shop Online Consignment Stores

Don’t underestimate the power of second hand! There are some great online consignment options now. Do your homework and shop your favorite brands and then keep an eye out on online consignment stores for pieces that you want to add to your closet. If you’re patient, things will pop up at a fraction of the cost! Poshmark, ThredUp, and eBay are just a few of the great options out there.

I got a pair of barely used leather Everlane loafers for half off on Poshmark. I got a pair of beautiful silver Jack Rogers leather sandals on eBay for more than half off! There’s something so satisfying about finding a steal of a deal! It feels so good!

Shop Thrift Stores

Don’t be grossed out by shopping at thrift stores! There are some great treasures hidden there! Keep an eye out for silk, linen, wool, cotton, cashmere, or leather. These types of fabrics will last a long time and are well made.

Shop Friend’s Discount Codes

If you follow people on Instagram or if you have friends that are affiliates for some of your favorite companies, use their discount codes. You’re getting a discount and they’re getting credit for sharing so it’s a win win for everyone!

Speaking of shopping friend’s discount codes…I have one for you! You can get $10 off your purchase at Last Brand HERE! It’s my absolute favorite brand because they have high quality pieces for affordable prices. Cashmere, cotton, leather, silk. They’re the best wardrobe essentials!

Save Your Money!

Stop buying stupid purchases. You know, those cheap sale item purchases that add up! When you’re at Target to get toilet paper and you happen to walk by the sale rack and 4 shirts are calling your name. Stop it! That’s where you’re wasting your money. Those pieces will last for a season and then you’ll toss them. If you hold back and have self-control, then you can save your money for higher quality pieces.

Building an intentional closet doesn’t have to be expensive! These tips will help you build an intentional closet on a budget! Shop smartly and save your money for those investment pieces. You will love your closet so much more when you’re patient and consciously choose what you want in it.
