But it’s just so overwhelming…am I right?! Let’s make this as painless as possible. Let’s get ‘er done so you can have a closet you love….so you can start building a more intentional closet that will work hard for you. Here are 4 questions to ask yourself when decluttering your closet to make the process easy!

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I like to keep things simple. And that’s why I try to help you take the stress and overwhelm out of decluttering your closet. It really doesn’t need to be complicated. Get to the point and get it done. Easy peasy. Sure, let’s be honest, it might take a few hours.  But it doesn’t have to be complicated. Ask yourself a few questions with each piece of clothing in your closet and you will have a closet you love!

Is It in Good Condition?

The first question you should ask yourself when decluttering your closet is: is it in good condition? There’s no sense in having tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets, or shoes in your closet that are falling apart, that have holes in them, that are stained, that are stretched out, or that look old. Nobody feels or looks great with clothing that is not in good condition. You deserve to look and feel your best! And the easiest way to do that is to take a little care in the clothes you’re wearing.

So, if you can answer that, yes indeed, a piece of clothing is in good condition, then keep it! If it has something wrong with it, then it’s time to say goodbye. Simple.

Is It Versatile?

The second question you should ask yourself is: is it versatile? What does that even mean?? Can that item of clothing be worn in multiple ways? Can you mix and match it with other pieces to get different looks? You want a closet that will work hard for you. You want a closet that is smart and that’s versatile. Say goodbye to pieces that can only be worn in one way. You will have so much clutter if you keep all those one-time pieces!

If you can answer yes, then keep it my friend! If you answer no, then say adios!

Do You Look Great in It?

The third question you need to ask yourself as you go through your closet is: do you look great in it? It may be in good condition and it may be versatile, but if you don’t look great in it, then why keep it??? You want to look beautiful, right? You want to feel great, right? Then only wear clothing that makes you look that way! You don’t want to wear unflattering, outdated, frumpy clothes. It’s ok to say goodbye.

Do you love it?

The fourth question to ask yourself is: do you love it?? Do you really love, not just like, that piece of clothing? Does it make you happy? Do you feel great in it? Does it put a little pep in your step? If yes, then keep it! If no, then say goodbye! You want to have a closet that you love. And you will only get that by having pieces in your closet that you love!

See? That wasn’t so hard! It may take you a few hours to go through all your closet to declutter. But by asking yourself those questions with each item in your wardrobe, you will end up with only the things you love and feel and look great in! Keep it simple.
